High QA ("we", "our") operates the Serial to Keyboard Chrome extension. This page explains what data the extension handles and how it is used.

1. Overview

Serial to Keyboard is a utility extension that reads measurement data from a serial port device (such as a digital caliper or gauge) and types it as keyboard input into the active window or web application. All processing occurs entirely on the user's local machine. No data is transmitted to external servers.

2. Data Handled

• Serial port data — measurement values received from a connected hardware device (e.g. caliper readings). This data is read locally and typed into the active window. It is never stored beyond the current session.
• User settings — configuration preferences such as baud rate, separator character, device ID format, and target window name. These are stored locally in Chrome's extension storage and never transmitted externally.
• Active tab information — the extension tracks which browser tab was last active in order to inject measurement data into the correct input field. Tab URLs and content are not read, stored, or transmitted.

3. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personally identifiable information
• We do not collect browsing history
• We do not transmit any data to High QA servers or third parties
• We do not use analytics or tracking of any kind
• We do not sell data to any party

4. Permissions Used

• activeTab / tabs — to identify the target tab for keyboard injection
• scripting — to deliver measurement data as keyboard input to the active web page
• storage — to save user configuration settings locally
• nativeMessaging — to communicate with the companion native host application which performs OS-level keyboard simulation
• host permissions — to inject input into web applications on any domain

5. Native Host Application

The extension communicates with a companion Windows application (host.exe) installed separately on the user's machine. This application receives text from the extension and types it into the active OS window using the Windows SendInput API. All communication between the extension and the native host is local to the user's machine.

6. Data Retention

Measurement data is processed in real time and is not stored. User settings are stored locally in Chrome's extension storage and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.
